Consensus Acquires Saleo: What It Means for Demo Tool Buyers
Consensus bought Saleo on June 9, 2026 and closed its Peel deal. What changes for buyers evaluating Saleo or Consensus, what to ask, and the alternatives.
Quick answer
On June 9, 2026 Consensus announced it had acquired Saleo, the data-injection live demo vendor, and closed its earlier acquisition of Peel, branding the result the Consensus Product Experience Platform. Terms were not disclosed. For buyers this means a Saleo evaluation is now a Consensus evaluation, with Consensus packaging, and the enterprise, sales-led end of demo software has consolidated into one platform, while self-serve, per-usage AI demo agents remain a separate purchase.
On June 9, 2026 Consensus announced that it had acquired Saleo. The same press release, datelined Atlanta, confirmed the closing of its previously announced acquisition of Peel and gave the combined offering a name: the Consensus Product Experience Platform. Financial terms were not disclosed. If Saleo or Consensus was on your shortlist this year, the deal changes what you are buying. This post explains what each company sold before the deal, what Consensus says it is building, and the questions worth asking before you sign anything. It is a companion to our mid-2026 market update and does not replace our earlier Saleo alternatives and Consensus alternatives guides, which were written before the acquisition.
What each company sold before June 9
Consensus, founded in 2014 as DemoChimp and based in American Fork, Utah, built the largest review footprint in demo automation: as of May 2026 its G2 seller profile showed roughly 1,569 reviews, G2 ranked it first in its Demo Automation category, and it was named one of G2's Top 5 Sales Software Platforms of 2026. Its core product is a library of demo videos that buyers self-select by role, with analytics on which stakeholders watched what. Consensus customers named in the release include Oracle, Atlassian, Salesforce and SAP.
Saleo sold something different: a data-injection layer that loads tailored, realistic records into a vendor's native product, so a sales engineer can run a live demo that shows the buyer's own scenario without building a separate demo environment. In the release's words, "Built on proprietary technology that injects tailored demo data directly into the native product, Saleo enables revenue teams to run live demos that reflect the buyer's actual reality." Saleo's named customers include SAP, Salesforce, Seismic, Clari and 6sense. In January 2026 Saleo also published an AI Demo Agent: autonomous, multilingual, available 24/7, co-browsing the product with the buyer through chat. Its public page does not describe voice.
Peel is the third piece. Consensus had announced its acquisition earlier and confirmed closing in the same release; the release does not detail Peel's product, so we do not speculate here.
What Consensus says it is building
Consensus CEO Doug Johnson published the rationale the same day. Three sentences carry the strategy: "By injecting real data directly into the product environment, Saleo transforms the live demo from a static presentation into a personalized, high-fidelity experience that reflects the buyer's world." Then: "The live demo becomes the extension of everything that came before it. The same intelligence that guided early engagement now informs how the product is presented." And the destination: "When the system is connected, every demo reflects the buyer's reality. Every interaction builds on the last. Every moment reinforces the decision."
Read plainly, Consensus is assembling one platform that covers the pre-call video demo, the buyer-intelligence layer, and now the sales-led live demo, aimed at enterprise revenue teams with sales engineers. The word "agentic" in the release headline refers to Saleo's chat agent inside that platform. It is a coherent strategy for the top of the market.
Three things that change for a buyer
1. A Saleo evaluation is now a Consensus evaluation. Packaging, contracting, support and roadmap decisions sit with Consensus. Neither company published pricing before the deal and neither has since; both are sales-led. Ask whether Saleo is still sold standalone, whether the AI Demo Agent is included or priced separately, and whether existing Saleo contracts carry over unchanged. Get the answer in writing.
2. The enterprise end of the market has consolidated. Before June, a mid-market team could buy Saleo's live-demo layer without buying a demo-video platform. Whether that remains possible is a question for Consensus, not an assumption. Reprise remains the other enterprise, sales-led option with a Gartner Peer Insights presence.
3. The self-serve, per-usage end is clearly a different purchase. If you want prospects served the moment they arrive, without a sales engineer in the loop, you are buying a live-product AI demo agent: RaykoLabs runs the voice demo inside your site at $9 per completed demo, Karumi delivers it as a video call on a $900 per month plan, and Supademo, Navattic, Walnut and Storylane sell agents layered on captured interactive demos. None of these require a data-injection layer, because they either operate the product as deployed or guide buyers through a capture.
Why the timing matters
Storylane's August analysis of 637 mid-market and enterprise deals found that the average buying account had about 23 known contacts in the CRM but only 2.3 people on calls, and that champions had often evaluated competitors before the first conversation. Consensus's own rationale leans on the same picture of a buyer who does most of the journey without a rep. The two ends of the market are answering that picture differently: Consensus by making the sales-led demo richer and better connected, the self-serve vendors by removing the rep from the first demo altogether. Both can be right for different deal sizes. The mistake is buying one while needing the other.
Questions to ask Consensus before you sign
- Is Saleo sold standalone, bundled, or only as part of the Product Experience Platform? Which SKU is on my quote?
- What is the AI Demo Agent's roadmap now: chat only, or voice? Which languages? Which parts of my product can it reach?
- Who maintains the injected demo data when my product changes, and what does that cost in services?
- What happens to an existing Saleo contract at renewal? Same price, same terms, same support team?
- What does the combined platform report back to sales after a live demo, and does it write to my CRM without services work?
- Can I run the Saleo agent on my own product during evaluation, or only on a curated environment?
Where RaykoLabs stands
We compete with Saleo and Consensus for one job, the first product demo, and we do it differently: a voice agent that operates your application as deployed, for every visitor, priced per completed demo, with the same agent answering post-sale support questions. If your motion is enterprise and sales-led, the Consensus platform is now the most complete option in that lane and we say so on our Saleo comparison and Consensus comparison. If your motion is inbound and self-serve, try the agent on our own product from the live demo and compare it with what a data-injected demo can show.
We will update this post's companion pages if Consensus publishes packaging or pricing for the combined platform. Corrections and additions: contact@raykolabs.com. Our sourcing rules are on the methodology page.
Frequently asked questions
When did Consensus acquire Saleo?
Consensus announced the acquisition on June 9, 2026, in a press release datelined Atlanta, Georgia. The same announcement confirmed the closing of its previously announced acquisition of Peel. Financial terms of both deals were not disclosed.
What does Saleo do?
Saleo injects tailored demo data directly into a vendor's native product so sales engineers can run live demos that reflect a specific buyer's situation without building and maintaining separate demo environments. In January 2026 it added a chat-based, multilingual AI Demo Agent that co-browses the product with the buyer 24/7. Its named customers include SAP, Salesforce, Seismic, Clari and 6sense.
What is the Consensus Product Experience Platform?
It is the name Consensus gave the combined offering in the acquisition press release: Consensus's demo automation and buyer-intelligence platform, Saleo's data-injected live demos and agent, and Peel. Consensus's CEO describes the goal as making the live demo an extension of everything that came before it in the buyer journey.
Does the acquisition change Saleo pricing?
Neither company has published pricing before or after the deal; both are sold through a sales process. Buyers should ask Consensus directly whether Saleo is sold standalone, bundled, or only inside the platform, and get any answer in writing before signing.
What are the alternatives if I do not want an enterprise platform?
For self-serve, per-usage AI demo agents that run your live product, RaykoLabs ($9 per completed demo after a free pilot) and Karumi ($900 per month self-serve) are the closest options. Supademo, Navattic, Walnut and Storylane sell agents layered on captured interactive demos. Consensus and Reprise remain the enterprise, sales-led choices.
